Xiao Yang graduated from Southern Medical University, China. He got the Medical Doctor(M.D) degree in clinical medicine in 2021. In his previous study, he studied the function of intestinal-derived extracellular vesicles on the gut vascular barrier restoration, intestinal stem cell regeneration and microglia activation.

In December 2023, he joined the laboratory of “Mucosal Immunology and Microbiota” at Humanitas University as PhD, mainly studying in the field of “gut-brain axis” under the supervision of Professor Maria Rescigno.
