Raffaella Parente obtained her master’s degree in Industrial and Molecular Biotechnology in 2013 at the University of Naples Federico II. Part of her master internship has been spent in the Université de Liège, Faculté des Sciences, Département des Sciences de la Vie, Centre d’Ingénierie des Protéines (CIP). In 2019, she obtained a PhD in Immunopharmacology at Open University, working in the labs of IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital, where her principal research activity was aimed to dissect the in vivo role of the humoral pattern recognition molecule PTX3 in the relationship with complement system activities in invasive aspergillosis. She also contributed to define the mechanisms at the bases of the physiological relevance of SAP in the antifungal response.

She is active in preclinical studies concerning the role of fluid-phase humoral innate immunity in response to pathogens with specific expertise in development of experimental in vivo models. In 2022, she joined the Multiscale ImmunoImaging Unit, where she develops experimental models of infection and protocols to visualize and analyze the behavior of immune cells in response to microbes using IVM 2P microscopy.
