Dr. J. Mikulak Ph.D., joined the Clinical and Experimental Immunology Unit in 2010 as a Senior Research Scientist. Her main areas of expertise include human innate immunity, immuno-oncology and virology. She completed her Ph.D. at the Unit of Human Immunology, at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, Italy, where she studied different regulatory mechanisms of HIV replication. Between 2006 and 2010 she worked in the Laboratory of Medicine of LIJ Medical Center, NY, USA, where she studied the role of T lymphocytes in the pathogenesis of HIV associated nephropathy (HIVAN).

Currently, Dr. J. Mikulak is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of several scientific projects investigating the role of human innate and adaptive immune responses in solid tumors (primary and metastatic liver tumors, gastric carcinoma, gynecological tumors, glioblastoma), viral infections (HIV, SARS-CoV-2) and autoimmune diseases (PBC). In particular her work focus on the complexity of innate and adaptive mechanisms in the pathogenesis of different human diseases by applying innovative cellular and molecular technical approaches such as high-dimension flow cytometry and single cell RNA/TCR-sequencing.
