Elena Azzolini

Associate Professor

Elena Azzolini is Associate Professor of General and Applied Hygiene at Humanitas University, Milan, Italy and holds the position of Deputy Chief Medical Officer at Humanitas, overseeing clinical-care pathways, governance, and the quality management of health processes across multiple hospitals and outpatient clinics. She is an active member of the Clinical Epidemiology and Research Center (CERC), advancing quality in clinical practice and research.

Her educational background is extensive and includes an ongoing MBA from the National University of Singapore. She holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management (2023) with high distinction, an MSc in Occupational Health from the University of Pavia (2020), a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and Public Health from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome (2019), an MPH in Preventive Medicine and Public Health from the same university (2016), and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Siena (2010), where she graduated summa cum laude.

Azzolini has held numerous significant positions throughout her career. At Humanitas Research Hospital, she has been the Business Unit Manager of the vaccination hub and Deputy Chief Medical Officer. She is also a Senior Data Analyst and Scientific Board Member at Doveecomemicuro SRL, providing insights into healthcare performance. She has being an External Expert for the European Commission and an Advisor for the Ministry of Health and the Italian National Institute of Health. Additionally, she served as an International Professional Officer for the United Nations, contributing to health policy and emergency medical support in developing countries.

Professor Azzolini’s research interests are diverse and include public health and preventive medicine, clinical governance, infection control, vaccinations, epidemiology, big data, health management, evidence-based medicine, digital health, and artificial intelligence. She has been instrumental in promoting research collaborations with national and international institutions and organizations.
