Carola Maria Morell obtained her degree in Medical Biotechnology in 2011 and her Ph.D. in Translational and Molecular Medicine (DIMET) in 2014, both from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy. She then joined the laboratory of Professor Ludovic Vallier at the Wellcome-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute (University of Cambridge, UK) as a postdoctoral researcher in 2015. There, she pursued her studies on in vitro modelling of liver development and disease, by integrating human induced pluripotent stem cells and organoids technology with multi-omics analyses.
In 2024, she joined the Precision Medicine Research Lab led by Professor Salvatore Piscuoglio at Humanitas. Her current research focuses on defining novel therapeutic targets in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Her studies combine the establishment of patient-derived organoids with multi-omics profiling, aiming to identify clinically relevant drug targets for selective treatment.
