Davide Franzone completed his M.Sc. in Neurobiology at the University of Pavia (Italy) with a thesis project focused on the dysregulation of serine and glycine biosynthetic pathway in 2D models of Parkinson’s disease (PD). He kept on working in the field thanks to a research fellowship that allowed him to study interactors of PINK1 protein, associated with autosomal recessive early-onset PD.
Fascinated by developing new models to study neurodegenerative disorders he got a position as research intern at F. Hoffmann-La Roche AG in Basel (Switzerland) where he worked on developing new 2D and 3D iPSC-derived neuronal systems to identify biomarkers of axonal degeneration.
Davide is now a PhD student (MEM) at Humanitas University in Milan (Italy) in the Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology of Simona Lodato where, by employing cutting-edge technology of brain organoids, he is mainly focusing his attention on the human brain cortex developmental alterations in a neurodegenerative disorder.
