Carlotta Damanti earned a double degree in Molecular Biology between the University of Padua and the University of Paris in 2016. She then obtained a PhD in Developmental Medicine and Health Planning Sciences within the Oncohematology curriculum at the University of Padua, working on pediatric lymphoma and studying the role of plasma exosomes in disease dissemination. She is currently working as a postdoc researcher at the Institute of Genetic and Biomedical Research of the CNR at the Humanitas Research Hospital, within the Humanitas Cardio Center of Humanitas Research Hospital.
Her research interests focus on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind the regulation of myocardial contraction based on calcium handling and signal transduction, in particular during aging or other stress conditions. Special attention is also given to the molecular processes that influence cell-to-cell communication and their potential role in the progression of myocardial diseases. The ultimate goal is to identify novel therapeutics for selective treatment of the diseased heart.
