Antonio Sica is group leader at Humanitas Research Hospital, where he leads the Molecular Immunology Lab, and full professor of general pathology at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Piemonte Orientale.
Sica graduated in biological sciences at the University of Milan in 1983 and obtained his PhD in Immunology working in a research lab at the “Mario Negri” research institute in Milan in 1990. He then moved to the National Cancer Institute at Frederick, in Maryland, USA, from 1990 to 1995, as an associate researcher and a group leader at the Laboratory of Experimental Immunology. He returned to Italy in 1995 as a group leader at the “Mario Negri” research institute, before establishing his research lab at Humanitas Research Hospital. In 2009 he became associate professor of General Pathology at the University of Eastern Piedmont.
Sica’s research is funded by Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro, Fondazione Umberto Veronesi, the Italian Ministry of Health and the Italian Ministry of University and Research. As of January 2023, he published more than 160 peer-review articles and his h-index, according to Scopus, is 76.
