Simona Nemska was born in Sofia, Bulgaria, and started her studies in Molecular Biology at the University of Sofia. She subsequently moved to France and graduated in Molecular and Structural Biology from the University of Strasbourg in 2008. She performed her PhD studies in Pharmacology in the Therapeutic Innovation Laboratory at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) at the University of Strasbourg, France, and obtained her PhD degree in 2012.
The topic of her thesis was the targeting of inflammatory kinase pathways in lung diseases. After one year as a teaching and research assistant at the University of Strasbourg, she completed a postdoc at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, focused on elucidating the inflammatory response in the development of cardiac hypertrophy leading to heart failure.
In 2019 she joined the team of Marie-Louise Bang at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan as a postdoctoral researcher working on a project aiming at addressing the molecular changes associated with heart failure and reverse cardiac remodelling following cardiac unloading.
